KFC nationwide rollout gives room for creativity
KFC nationwide rollout gives room for creativity
KFC had a plan: 36 full site signage upgrades, including five new builds, starting June 2019. And don’t forget the regular servicing while you’re doing that.
That’s just the kind of challenge the Capitol Signs team loves. It gives us a chance to flex all our muscles – from design and manufacture to installation – and we specialise in nationwide rollouts.
Even better the project architects wanted a single provider with one point of contact to take ownership of the signage package. Step up co-owner Justin Smith.
Ray McElroy of Mortlock, McElroy Architects, says:
“We have successfully worked on more than 40 projects with Justin and the team at Capitol Signs. They have proved to be innovative in their approach to solving specific client requirements and we are happy to endorse their product and delivery.”
Fast forward to 2021 and not only have we delivered, but we have re-engineered elements and encouraged KFC to embrace some new neon over murals and artworks.
Our neon “Finger lickin good” sign at KFC Westfield Newmarket helped us win a 2021 New Zealand Sign and Display Association corporate brand interpretation and delivery award.
We have valued engineered their signage package to improve elements such as the order speaker station canopy. It was a heavy steel single unit. Now it is in aluminium, which means when it is installed, we don’t need to use a Hiab – and it’s lighter of packaging and freighting costs to site too.
KFC asked us to think solar power. They now have a full suite of solar signage options, and they are uniform in their operation.
This has allowed pole signs and directional placement on KFC’s new sites without the need to trench heavy cables.
Working with Ray and the KFC team has been a fantastic challenge and to win a NZSD award is a bonus.
